The needle gauge standard

A hypodermic injection needle has the various sizes, and the outside diameter is indicated by a gage and the wall thickness and length are indicated by the actual size.

The number of smaller gauges indicates the bigger outside diameter, and the inside diameter is decided a gage and wall thickness.

The following chart is indicating a Regular wall (average thickness tube) and Thin wall (thin wall thickness tube). The inside diameter of the Thin wall tube is bigger than the Regular wall tube in an identical gauge.
