Introducing Motion Control Clutches from Reel

Wrap Spring Clutches are designed to give the ability to drive a high amount of torque in a small package. It is ideally suited for critical timing applications requiring consistent, repeatable engagement and disengagement performance over life. Wrap spring technology limits the effects of wear, so the timing performance remains constant throughout our clutch’s rated life as opposed to other technologies which see increased timing variation as the load-driving surfaces wear.

Dynaox and our partner, Reell Precision Manufacturing Corporation, can collaborate with customer from an initial concept to defining the exact needs and eventually finding a custom solution to meet all requirements. Flexibility in design and made-to-order production capability allow customer to enjoy merits in a total cost package.

All standard clutches feature life of 1,000,000 or more cycles. For high hour and/or input revolution applications, we have developed a long-life (LL) version, which extends the life of the clutch 2~10X depending on the load and duty cycle requirements.

  • After spring wrap-down, all clutches accelerate loads from zero to full speed in less than 3 ms.
  • Clutches are available in CW and CCW configurations.
  • Most clutches are powered by 12 or 24 volts DC (filtered or unfiltered)
  • Recommended speeds of 100-800 rpm typical, 1400 max
  • All clutches operate in 0~40℃. Products designated LL will operate at temperature up to 60℃
  • Clutches require a minimum load friction of 0.05 N-m (6 oz-in), except EC75LL which requires 0.11 N-m (1 lb-in).

Application examples

  • Copier, collator, and other paper handling equipment
  • Torque-overload protection (slip devices) as used in applications such as hedge trimmers
